HPTLC for Analysis of Medicinal Plants and Botanicals

Objective:
Participants will be informed about the capabilities and advantages of HPTLC. They will be able to apply HPTLC for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of botanicals and gain some experience with development and validation of the corresponding methods.

Prerequisite:
Basic knowledge of TLC

Course content:
The course comprises lectures, lab sessions, and discussions. The following subjects will be addressed:

  • Fundamentals of modern HPTLC
  • Applications of HPTLC for the analysis of botanicals
    - Identification
    - Detection of adulterants
    - Quantitation of markers
    - Stability test
  • Standardized HPTLC methodology
    - SOP for HPTLC
    - Modern instrumentation
    - Compliance with official methods
  • Theory and practice of method development
  • Evaluation and optimization of literature methods
  • Method transfer from TLC to HPTLC
  • Validation of qualitative and quantitative methods

Duration
Four-day intensive course. The number of participants is limited to eight, allowing ample opportunities for hands-on training.

Costs and registration

  • The fee for the 4 days course is CHF 2500.00; lunches and beverages are included.
  • The number of participants is limited to eight.
  • Participation will be allocated and confirmed in order of receipt of registration.
  • CAMAG reserves the right to cancel the course at this occasion, if less than 4 persons are registered.
  • Customer cancellations or change of booking: 50% will be charged within 4 weeks before the course starts; in the last week, 100% will be charged. No extra charges are due, if a substitute participant is named.

Travel costs, hotel and evening meals are not included and have to be settled directly by the course participant. CAMAG can assist with hotel reservations.
